Victory's Blended Cell Model

In the beginning of the cell ministry at Victory the cells were organized by location and zip code. Victory used the 5x5 organizational model which originated with Dr. Cho in Seoul, Korea. In this model all of the multiplication came out of the original group and when there were five multiplication a leader was raised up to oversee the five groups. This method worked for several years but required many levels of leadership.

The next direction was adding common interest groups for men, women, children, and in the workplace. We continued to use the 5x5 organizational model for these additional groups.

The next phase was to educate the entire Victory staff on cell ministry and to encourage every department to develop cells. This phase required a lot of training and educating the staff to look at the programs and events of the church as entry points for people to come into their areas of ministry. It would then take cell groups to disciple and mentor the people. When relationships were built, the people were more likely to commit to the local church and begin to grow in their faith and in time become a disciple maker themselves.

In 1990 Victory started target groups through a ministry called Victory by Virtue. It was a twelve week discipleship ministry for men and women that had a one hour teaching followed by a one hour cell group to discuss the lesson and receive ministry on the subject taught. At the end of the twelve weeks many of the attendees began to apprentice in the cell groups and become leaders in Victory by Virtue.

The discipleship success of Victory by Virtue led to starting other cell groups that targeted specific issues in their lives. These groups would meet for twelve weeks and then the leader would encourage the people to begin to find an area of ministry to get involved. These groups have worked well to target specific areas in people’s lives where they need additional teaching and ministry.

In 1998 the V12 leadership groups began at Victory with Pastor Daugherty starting his own V12 with the departmental leaders. Victory has transitioned in the V12 management model for all the cell groups. The majority of the cell groups stem from Pastor Daugherty’s V12 group. Pastor Sharon has her own V12 group and the ministry to women through cell groups is accomplished through the ladies in her V12 group.

Home and Zip Code Cell Groups

The cell groups that are considered home or zip code groups are vital for the cell group ministry. Even though people can attend any cell group of their choice, the follow-up of new members, visitors, and altar counselee is done through the zip code home cell groups. This allows the cell groups that are in the same geographically location to make the initial contact with these people who are new to the church.

Victory's home groups are in different configurations. We have home groups specifically for couples, singles, men, women, or children. The home groups are important for that initial connection with a small group of people for the purpose of spiritual growth and relationship building.

Homogeneous/Common Interest Cell Groups

In our fast-pace American lifestyles people are not relating as much with their neighbors but more in the workplace and also special or same interests. This is the homogeneous or common interest principle. Our U.S. society in general, is greatly diversified in terms of race, ethnicity, professions, education, sports interest, social situations, special needs, etc. Therefore, Victory allows for the formation of cell groups based on homogeneity (all group members having the same special interest).

People want their lives to count for God's Kingdom. We have a saying, "Building God's Kingdom through cell groups". Every believer can be a world changer. We each have a world, which is our sphere of influence. We can make a difference in the world we live in by being sensitive to the needs of people around us. Here is a sample list of special interest cell groups:

Different ethnic groups – Indian, Hispanic, Native American, Asian, etc.
Business/Workplace groups.
Sports or hobbies.
Senior Adults and Nursing Home and Assisted Living Centers
Singles
Single Moms and Single Dads
Youth
Music
Evangelistic outreach cells such as in prisons, street ministry, Salvation Army
Task related groups such as greeters, ushers, and prayer cells.

Leadership Equipping Track

Victory Christian Center has developed a leadership equipping track that all potential leaders will follow. The three easy steps to becoming a cell leader are: foundation class (8 lessons), cell leader orientation, and cell apprenticeship. Leaders also need to take discipleship training which include: Encounter Weekend, DISC Personality Profile Class, Victory by Virtue (12 week discipleship course), and Commissioning. Contact the Pastoral Care office at (918) 491-7815 for more information.
